To download the file, I turned OFF security in W10 settings. It downloaded with no problem. After the download, I turned ON security once again. Seems to be working fine with no problem.

I have run MBAM and ESET separately on the UISS-.exe file and they report it as clean.

Bizarrely; I believe that Chrome uses the ESET engine .... so why it shows it as a problem I'm flummoxed.

I hope there may be something useful in this and it has helped.

I've certainly had no help on this site when I asked several questions about a SatGate I tried to set up many. many

My apologies Guy
I found the setting under Setup, UISS...
I must have unticked the Auto Run.

Hi Guy

SoundModem used to automatically open when I started UISS but I lately have to manually start it.  Do you perhaps know why this is?

Thanks

I downloaded the latest UISS update and scanned it with MalWareBytes Premium.

No Threats.

Just ran UISS here. All OK.

Hi,

Once there was an X-file ;-) and it needed to be solved...
I had never got one a single infection alert, not in my original sourcecode folders, nor in my distribution folder. And the setup files online were originally uploaded 24th of dec 2020. No infection until recently.

Remember that here on my PC the original compiled files did not give of any warning (yes, using several AV programs).

However, when downloaded the warning occurred. After checking here the conclusion was and is a false positive or infection on the server. I know because I made the program from A to Z and there could not have a virus infected the files (I use a special secure virtual vault). In this case Graeme was right.

Anyway, I made a fresh recompile with an updated compiler of the setup program, uploaded the 100% clean files to my website and mirror (also here in the group).

Sorry for all inconvenience and my best 73,

Guy ON6MU

UISS installation files

Robin

Edited

FAO ... Anyone worried about UISS installation files:

I have downloaded the file called UISS_Setup.exe from both the 'download.htm' webpage and the 'uiss.pe1pqx.eu' page.

I initially scanned the 5.4.3 file, only, using Kaspersky Security Cloud 21.3.10.391(d) and it showed up the infection I reported earlier. It still shows this,
even though the virus signature files are regularly updated. I can only assume there is a possible heuristic trigger that's causing the issue.

Subsequently; I have run scans using MBAM, ESET and Trend .... and they all show there is no problem.

I then ran the files through Kaspersky Threat Intelligence Portal and it too shows them as being clean.

In my 'ex' capacity in IT security, I would say these files are safe to install.

I've seen and had to deal with the results, 1st hand, of what ransomware can do and so it's always best to be cautious.

P.S.

Where it states against UISS 5.4.3 (UISS_Setup.exe)  .... temporary offline (use mirror) .... the file is NOT offline; in fact
the full file structure (ftp) is open to everyone, including the files you are trying to block.

Also; the files on the main page and the mirror site are completely different ....

The main page file:

and the mirror page file:

P.P.S.

After all of the above, I decided to build a Virtual Machine Windows test environment and install the programme to see if it generated the
.com files and new registry key associated with Kaspersky's 'false positive' findings.

It doesn't!

So it would appear that Kaspersky and Google are being a bit over cautious in their checking.

Good luck!

Robin/G8VVY.
